1. Introduction
CoParent Lite (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the CoParent Lite mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”). We take privacy seriously, especially because the information you share with us relates to your family.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Data We Collect and Why
Account information
We collect your email address when you create an account. Your email is used for login, account recovery, weekly digest delivery, and transactional notifications (such as swap request alerts). We do not collect your full name unless you choose to provide it.
Family and schedule data
When you use the calendar, expense tracker, and handoff features, we store the information you enter: custody schedules, event details, expense amounts and descriptions, receipt photos, handoff checklists, and notes. This data is visible only to you and your co-parent within your family group. It is never shared with third parties.
Messages
Messages sent between co-parents within the app are stored on our servers and encrypted in transit and at rest. Messages are visible only to the two parents in your family group. They are never read by us for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than delivery.
Usage data
We collect aggregate, anonymized data about how features are used (for example, how often the expense tracker is opened) to improve the product. This data does not include the content of your messages, calendar events, or expense entries.
Device and technical data
We collect crash reports and anonymized diagnostic data to maintain app stability. We also store device push tokens to deliver notifications. Push tokens are shared with our push notification provider solely for delivery purposes.
3. AI Processing
CoParent Lite uses AI to power two features: the “Make Neutral” message rewrite tool and the weekly digest summary.
Make Neutral (message rewrite)
When you use the Make Neutral feature, your draft message text is sent to an AI model for tone analysis and rewriting. This processing happens in an isolated session. Your draft message content is not stored by the AI provider and is not used to train AI models. The rewritten result is returned to your device and the session ends.
Weekly digest
Your upcoming calendar events, expense balance, and handoff notes are summarized by AI to generate your weekly digest email. This summary is generated in an isolated session. Content is not stored by the AI provider and is not used to train AI models.
4. Children’s Data
CoParent Lite is designed for adult co-parents. Children do not create accounts and do not interact with the app directly.
Parents may enter their children’s first names and dates of birth to enable scheduling and handoff features. This information:
- Is entered by a parent user, not by the child
- Is visible only to the two parents within the same family group
- Is never shared with third parties
- Is never used for advertising or analytics
- Is deleted when the family account is closed
All child information entered into CoParent Lite is provided by adult parents, not by children. It is used solely for co-parenting coordination within the family unit — scheduling, handoffs, and expense tracking. We do not use child information for advertising, profiling, AI model training, or any purpose beyond facilitating coordination between the parents in that family.
We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at support@coparentlite.com and we will delete it promptly.
5. Your Rights (GDPR and Similar Laws)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you have the following rights:
- Access — You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure — You may request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”). We will fulfill erasure requests within 30 days.
- Portability — You may request an export of your data in a machine-readable format (JSON or CSV).
- Restriction — You may request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Objection — You may object to processing based on legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@coparentlite.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
6. International Data Transfers
Our servers are located in the United States. If you use CoParent Lite from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction with data-protection laws, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
For transfers of personal data out of the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (2021/914) with each sub-processor that receives such data, and on the equivalent UK International Data Transfer Addendum and Swiss amendments where applicable. A current list of sub-processors and the safeguards in place is available on request at support@coparentlite.com.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is permanently removed within 30 days. During that grace period, you may reactivate your account and recover your data. After 30 days, deletion is permanent and irreversible.
You may export your full data history (calendar events, expenses, messages, and handoff logs) at any time from within the app or by contacting us.
8. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We do not share your data for advertising purposes. We do not share your data with data brokers.
We share data with service providers only to the extent necessary to operate the Service (for example, an email delivery provider to send your weekly digest). All providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose beyond the specific service they provide.
9. Cookie Policy
We use session cookies only. These cookies are necessary to keep you logged in and to maintain your session state. They are deleted when you close your browser or sign out.
We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies. We do not use third-party cookies from advertising networks or social media platforms.
10. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit and encryption at rest for stored data. We conduct regular security reviews. However, no system is completely secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
